How to Choose the Best Golf Cart Lights & Light Kit

The Two Types of Golf Cart Light Kits

There are two types of light kits available for most golf carts. Non-Street Legal and Street Legal light kits:

• Non-Street Legal light kits are good for driving around your own property or campsite in low-light
• Street Legal light kits are good for on-road & neighborhood use

Once you select the style of golf cart light kit you need for your specific use, all you have to do is identify your golf cart make/model and then choose whether you would like  LED type lights or Halogen type light bulbs.

• Golf Cart LED Lights are more efficient, brighter, and have a longer lifespan (last longer). LED bulbs also use less energy to run (so they drain your batteries less quickly).
• Halogen Light Bulbs are an older, trusted technology. They will use slightly more energy than LED bulbs but will still provide ample light in the dark.

Voltage Reducers (Do you need one?)

If you have 6-Volt or 8-volt batteries on your golf cart, it is strongly recommended that you purchase a voltage reducer to use with your light kit. A voltage reducer will lower the effective power input to your lights to protect them from burning out.
