CompareGolf Cart Solenoid
A golf cart solenoid is a part of your golf cart's electrical system. The part acts like a switch between the cart's batteries and its controller to make the cart move. When you step on the accelerator pedal in your golf cart, the solenoid receives a low-current signal from the cart's battery. It then closes a set of "contacts" (or switches), which completes the circuit from your battery to your controller. This allows electricity to flow freely to your controller and motor, to power your cart forward. When you lift your foot off the pedal, the solenoid stops the electricity from flowing, stopping power to your controller and causing the cart to slow.
Solenoid for Golf Cart
Because your solenoid's job is to control when and how much power goes to your cart's controller, it is incredibly important to make sure this part is working in tip-top shape. There are two key ways you can tell if you have a bad golf cart solenoid:
- Your golf cart won't turn on when you turn the key on (electric carts)
- Your golf cart turns on, but the starter won't disconnect (gas carts)

Upgrading to Heavy Duty Golf Cart Solenoid
If your golf cart has an upgraded speed controller, then it is highly important that you add a heavy-duty solenoid to your setup. Upgrading your controller to a more powerful unit without upgrading your solenoid can fry your golf cart's electronics quickly!
