What is a Golf Cart Roof Rack?

A golf cart roof rack is a popular add-on accessory for cart owners, that gives extra storage by adding a plastic or steel rack on top of your cart (space you otherwise don't use). Will a Golf Roof Roof Rack Affect my Cart?

A roof rack installed on your cart can slightly decrease your gas fuel efficiency / battery range for two reasons:

1. A roof rack increases your cart's weight: The rack itself can weigh between 25 and 60 lbs. And with cargo inside, a roof rack can add 100 lbs.+ to your golf cart.
2. Roof racks increase wind resistance: While not as big of a factor as it is with cars and trucks, a golf cart roof rack will still increase your cart's wind resistance. This can cause slightly less range per charge out of your batteries, or a slightly lower MPG out of your gas golf cart (especially on very breezy drives).
