Club Car Solenoid
A Club Car solenoid is part of a Club Car golf cart's electrical system. The part acts like a switch between the cart's batteries and its controller to make the cart move. When you step on the accelerator pedal in your Club Car golf cart, the solenoid receives a low current signal from the cart's battery. It then closes a set of "contacts" (or switches), which completes the circuit from the battery to the controller. This allows electricity to flow freely to the controller and motor, to power the cart forward. When you lift your foot off the pedal, the solenoid stops the electricity from flowing, stopping power to the controller and causing the cart to slow.
Solenoid for Club Car Golf Cart
Because your Club Car golf cart solenoid's job is to control when and how much power goes to your cart's motor, it is incredibly important to make sure this part is working in tip-top shape. There are two key ways you can tell if you have a bad Club Car golf cart solenoid:
- Your Club Car won't turn on when you turn the key on (electric carts)
- Your Club Car turns on, but the starter won't disconnect (gas carts)

Upgrading to Heavy Duty Club Car Solenoid
If your Club Car has an upgraded Club Car controller, then it is highly important that you add a heavy-duty solenoid to your setup. Upgrading your controller to a more powerful unit without upgrading your solenoid can fry your golf cart's electronics quickly!
