Club Car Solenoid
A Club Car solenoid is a critical component in a Club Car golf cart's electrical system, acting like a big electric switch between the cart's batteries and its starter-generator to make it move. When you step on the accelerator pedal in your Club Car, your solenoid first receives a low current signal from your cart's battery. It then closes a set of "contacts" or switches, which completes the circuit from your battery to your motor, allowing electricity flow freely. This makes your Club Car motor run and your cart begins to move forward. When you lift your foot off the pedal, the solenoid stops the electricity from flowing, stopping your motor (and preventing unnecessary power drain).
Solenoid for Club Car Golf Cart
Because your Club Car golf cart solenoid's job is to control when and how much power goes to your cart's motor, it is incredibly important to make sure this part is working in tip-top shape. There are two key ways you can tell if you have a bad Club Car golf cart solenoid:
- Your Club Car won't turn on when you turn the key on (electric carts)
- Your Club Car turns on, but the starter won't disconnect (gas carts)
