We have noticed that ICON golf carts have literally EXPLODED onto the golf cart scene over the past five years, and our GCTS staff are surprised that there really isn’t much good info out there on them! We here at the Golf Cart Tire Supply noticed back in 2019 that more customers were asking us for golf cart accessories for their ICON carts, and asking us what we thought of the carts or what the best models were. And luckily, from speaking with thousands of customers each month, having more data than any other golf cart parts retailer, and having access to many ICON golf carts to test drive locally; we’re able to break it down for you in this article!

If you’re instead looking for golf cart parts for your ICON or accessories for your cart, you also came to the right place! Be sure to check out our article outlining the Top 10 Best Golf Cart Accessories or browse all items compatible with ICON we have for sale on the main section of our website!

We hope our overview of ICON golf carts helps you make the best decision on whether or not to buy an ICON cart, which ICON model to get from your local dealer, and which accessories you may want to add to your cart as well.

Company History of ICON Golf Carts

The company ICON Electric Vehicles was founded in 2017 in Tampa, FL and has quickly grown into one of the largest volume and fastest growing golf cart manufacturers in the United States. The company prides itself on selling golf carts with ‘more features for less money’ and providing manufacturer direct pricing through its network of dealers. We noticed that ICON saw many golf cart owners used their carts anywhere BUT the golf course, and understood that carts which are mainly used off the golf course need to have more capabilities than carts that are strictly used for a round of play. This makes sense these days because many people use their golf cart around their neighborhood, on their farm, at professional facilities and more – without ever taking it on a golf course. And when our customers do take their cart to the course, they want their cart to match their personality and have party tricks that basic carts just don’t. It seems ICON answered the call to give people a cart for OFF the course, direct from the factory, at an affordable price compared to the competition.

When the company was founded in 2017, they were producing approximately 20 golf carts per month. That number has exponentially grown to an estimated 2,000+ carts a month now. And ICON has five major US distribution hubs as of 2024.

ICON Golf Cart Models

Your local authorized ICON dealer will have several models available on the market today, and a likely a handful that the ICON brand used to offer (but no longer does). Regardless of what model you purchase, ALL ICON golf carts come with a tubular steel chassis with Anti-Corrosive Powder-coating on them. While we are not a dealer of ICON golf carts, we’ve made an easy-to-read table below for you which outlines every ICON golf cart model currently offered for sale to the public to aid you in your research on the brand:

Before we get to the table, in general (quick and dirty) the NUMBER portion of the ICON model name signifies how many SEATS the cart has. ‘20’ = 2 seats, ‘40’ = 4 seats, etc.

And any LETTER portion coming AFTER the number in the model number, signifies if the cart is Lifted ‘L’ or intended for Utility use ‘U’, etc.

For example:

  • ICON i60 = Regular (non-lifted) 6-seater golf cart
  • ICON i60 L = Lifted 6 seater golf cart
  • ICON i20 = Regular (non-lifted) 2-seater golf cart
  • ICON i20 U = Regular (non-lifted) 2-seater ‘Utility’ bed golf cart
  • ICON i20 UL = Lifted 2-seater ‘Utility’ bed golf cart

And so on and so forth, through the entire ICON EV model range.

**Please note: Past ICON models (pre-2021) came with a Toyota 350A Controller from the factory.

In designing their street legal golf carts, ICON has gone through the trouble of adhering to the California Department of Motor Vehicles standards to qualify as Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEV) / Low Speed Vehicles (LSV). This means these carts can be legally driven on the streets under Golf Cart Registration ruled FFVR37. ICON golf carts have:

  • 4-wheels
  • 17 Digit Vin Number
  • Are certified by FMVSS (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards)
  • Within 1-mile can reach a speed of more than 20mph, but not more than 25mph
  • Has a GVWR
  • Have a horn, headlights, stop lights, turn signals
  • Have safety belts

ICON Golf Cart Features

As our table above outlines, many ICON golf cart models come standard with features that other major brands of golf carts just do not. And these ICON carts come with those standard features for significantly less cost than the competition as well! Most notably, ICON EV models come standard with:

  • Digital Speedometer display
  • 4-wheel disc brakes
  • Headlights with turn signals and daytime-running lights (DRLs), brake lights, and horn
  • Independent coil suspension on all 4-corners (lifted models)
  • Standard Upgraded Interior with high-quality seating, upgraded steering wheel, individual key switch, glove box

Optional features you can add include premium seating materials (2-tone color, upgraded leather, etc.), Lithium Batteries, and more (dealer dependent). You will want to ask your authorized ICON dealer up front what types of golf cart accessories they offer, to make sure you are getting what you want the most on your cart. Anything your dealer does not offer, can be found here for your ICON at the Golf Cart Tire Supply!

If you haven’t already begun to see ICON EVs in your neighborhood, you most certainly will begin to – because of their amazing bang-for-the-buck price considering what you get!

ICON Golf Cart Price

ICON golf carts are priced aggressively as they are a newer entrant to the market trying to make their dent. The ICON i20 base model carts start as low as around $8,500. For this reason, ICON has exploded in popularity.

From researching listings online, depending on your selected options when spec’ing your ICON golf cart the price of your MSRP can increase to $13,000+ with options. LITHIUM powered variants are also now offered by ICON in 2024, which is a big win for the growing brand.

Summing it all Up

We believe ICON golf carts are an amazing value, and have become the 4th largest golf cart manufacturer on the market for a reason. Incredible quality. Unmatched bang-for-the-buck cost. And trendy styling for the modern day and age.

There are a ton of great new carts on the market for 2024, and anything from ICON is right up there in the top of our rankings (#4 this year on our list of Top 10 Carts). As we said in our Top 10 list last year, we have never been more excited for the future of Golf Carts and Low-Speed Vehicles (LSVs).

We will continue to keep you posted on what new ICON golf cart models we see out there, and we’re always here to help you when it comes to adding accessories and replacing parts for your ICON golf cart!
